The Lens explores the relationship my father has to me as well as the relationship I have to the camera. The footage used is appropriated video from my father’s old videotapes that trace my development. Through this, my connection to the medium of video is emphasized.
Hi Grace, congratulations on this very considered, well articulated piece. And I know how hard you worked on it. It flows well across time, and the ending is perfect. I would only shorten some of the long (about 10 seconds for some of them) black screens, to keep the audience with you. This would be a very strong piece to show at the JAS, I hope you will!
