Mama is a video about my mother, who has Parkinson’s disease. Here she is depicted in her usually daily activities at home. This video explores my relationship to the condition as it manifests through the body of my mother.

Hi Andrea, I find this video really moving, and I appreciate it was a challenge to make in various ways. Thanks to you and your mom for sharing this private and sometimes difficult part of your everyday lives. I like the changes to the editing, especially the dual-screen shots, and the ways you highlight everyday tasks, some frustrated, some playful. Don’t hesitate to use the first person in your description of the piece, and talk about it in a truthful way. It inevitably speaks about your mom’s tremor, her life, but also your relationship with each other. And about mothers as a theme – which we can all identify with. And your own perspective – with is an important motif of the work. Congratulations, I hope you will show it in a gallery or screening when you have a chance.
