To play with the use of systems put in place to signify important dates, I translated the most significant dates in my life (events, birthdays, etc) into Dewey decimals. I then found the corresponding books at the library in my hometown and took excerpts from each, overlaying them onto photos of the breaking ice in the harbour; something that happens each spring and was always a defining moment of the seasons changing in my childhood. This project was my way of transforming numbers that hold significance but no emotional face value into a false narrative that feels more tangible.
