We organize hikes, publish newsletters, and produce a Handbook of maps of our trails. We welcome visitors on our hikes and on our trails.<\/p>\n Nature Guelph<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>– An active club for nature lovers in the Guelph area. We host monthly meetings with exciting guest speakers, regular outdoor events and field trips in the Guelph area and beyond. Groups include Nature in the City, Bird Wing and Wildflower Society.<\/p>\n Nature in the City – Nature Guelph<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Nature in the City is a series of free, public programs run by Nature Guelph that can help you dive in to nature in the Royal City!<\/p>\n Bird Wing<\/a><\/strong> –\u00a0Bird Wing is a special interest group for birders of a feather. If you enjoy watching and learning about birds, this is the place for you! Bird-lovers of all experience levels are welcome, and this is a great place to learn new things and hone your skills.<\/p>\n Guelph Lake – Nature Centre<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0The Guelph Lake Nature Centre is part of the 1608-hectare (3,971-acre) property of the Guelph Lake Conservation Area. The centre overlooks Guelph Lake and the Guelph Lake Dam. The lake and dam, the Speed River, open fields and a nearby conifer plantation provide a great diversity of habitats for learning about the natural world.<\/p>\n Guelph Lake – Conservation Centre<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0There’s a lot of room for recreation at this 1,608 hectares ( 3,971 acres) conservation area created with the construction of the Guelph Lake dam in 1974. A newly developed concert area with a unique living roof is on an island in the middle of the lake.\u00a0There are two beaches and non-motorized boating is allowed on the lake. It is home to a sailing club, a rowing club and there’s excellent fishing.<\/p>\n Guelph Horticultural Society<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>– a group of people who enjoy gardening and want to learn more. We have some very knowledgeable members, but also lots of others who are just learning. If you are a new gardener this is the place for you – we will help you learn.<\/p>\n Wellington Water Watchers<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>– \u00a0Wellington Water Watchers is a non-profit organization founded in 2007. We are an organization primarily run by volunteer citizens from Guelph-Wellington who are committed to the protection of local water and to educating the public about threats to the watershed.<\/p>\n Royal City Fishing Club<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0– Ontario’s\u00a0largest nonprofit, charitable fish and wildlife conservation organization. Together with our partners, we deliver a broad range of conservation initiatives.<\/p>\n Trees for Guelph<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0A group of volunteers formed Trees for Guelph in 1990 to improve the local environment and the understanding of this environment by undertaking educational tree planting.<\/p>\n The Waterloo-Wellington Wildflower Society<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Guelph-based non-profit group dedicated to the use and protection of native plants in parks, gardens and other open spaces.<\/p>\n FarmStart<\/strong> <\/a>– aims to encourage and support a new generation of entrepreneurial, ecological farmers.\u00a0There are many challenges facing new farmers, but there are also many exciting opportunities. The new farmers we support bring skills, connections and passion that can lead to innovation and renewal.\u00a0These new ecological farmers are cultivating a real, sustainable and delicious future for their own families, our communities and our farmlands.<\/p>\n Mycology Society of Toronto<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0– a non-profit, volunteer-managed association of amateur mycologists and others with an interest in wild mushrooms and other fungi, based in Toronto, Canada. Our goal is to stimulate public interest in and appreciation of fungi and their role in nature, and we encourage activities that explore the ecological role of fungi and support the conservation of wild mushrooms.
