His work is grounded in his practice as an art educator and community worker. He explores the intersections between the quotidian and art, and strives for interactions with the public, using social interactions and exchanges to create gestures of generosity.<\/p>\n<p>AlZeri&#8217;s performance work has been shown across the Americas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mobile Kitchen Lab<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-405\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/experimentalstudio.ca\/sart-4810-4880-w16\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/01\/alzeri-basil-artinfo_mobilekitchenlab_01-1.jpg?resize=448%2C266\" alt=\"AlZeri Basil artinfo_mobilekitchenlab_01\" width=\"448\" height=\"266\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"http:\/\/ca.blouinartinfo.com\/news\/story\/990965\/eat-labor-love-basil-alzeris-mobile-kitchen-lab\" target=\"_blank\">The Mobile Kitchen Lab<\/a> (2010 &#8211; present), AlZeri performs simple and generous gestures, inviting his guests to identify the Palestinian stories of land, resources and labour that are built into his recipes.<\/p>\n<p>Initiated in 2010, his durational performances feature live projected instructions provided by his mother, Suad, via Skype.<\/p>\n<p>Hear a radio interview on the project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/boardwalkradio\/?p=1003\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pull, Sort, Hang, Dry and Crush<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cheyanneturions.wordpress.com\/2014\/04\/10\/learning-to-prepare-food-is-not-unlike-learning-a-language\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pull, Sort, Hang, Dry and Crush<\/a> (2014) was\u00a0an interactive performance involving food crops and their re-plantation. In this performance, wild thyme plants that had been transported over thousands of kilometres were\u00a0re-purposed through the processes of drying, crushing and storing.
